Detailed Description
Arthur Alfred Brunel de Neuville was a nineteenth-century Parisian artist. Around the age of twenty he became a famous painter of cats and still lifes. Like other nineteenth century cat artists (see Henriette Ronner-Knip) his paintings exude a sentimental realist style. The painter's subjects consisted mainly of representations of cats in the foreground with a homogeneous background intent on playing with balls of wool, insects, birds, bowls of milk or just for general prank. Some of his works are in the Beziers, Brest, Chateau Thierry and Louviers museums. Provenance: Paris, France Period: second half of the nineteenth century Technique: oil on canvas Size: 40.5 x 61 cm
