Detailed Description

Lovely pair of andirons with double patina decorated with chilly putti represented in front of a brazier with goats feet, The bases are decorated with a repertoire of important decor such as ribbons, flowers, friezes of beaded rows, Draperies, garlands of flowers and fruits, radiant Apollo heads, feet waved with bay leaves. The Putti are represented chubby and well in the pulpit warming up in front of a brazier sitting in different ways on a base with hanging draperies, in the base in the lower part is represented a radiant Apollo mask surrounded by abundant floral decor. They were placed in front of a fireplace, their decor takes all their meaning with its elements: - - the Putti are covered with a drapery and warms up in front of a brazier, which means Fire, cold and the search for heat. -The radiant Apollo mask which has two meanings: 1) Radiation characterizes the sun with heat and light 2) Apollo is considered to be the beardless god of light among others. This Chenet model seems to appear under Louis XVI around the 1780s although the bronze work seems similar. Our andirons have a hearth bar, this only seems to appear at the beginning of the 19th century. The BOUHON ET CIE house produced similar models in the 19th century. The pair of andirons that we present to you has several times the letter '' T '' and '' C '' in hollow. Dimensions: Equipped with their chimney bar it measures fold 93 cm and unfold 1m15, each Chenet measures: height 27 cm width 25.5 cm depth 8 cm 2 feet seem to have been redone identically In very good condition
