Veneto (Italy), half of the seventeenth century
oil on canvas
with a beautiful wooden frame golden
Measurements (cm): 84 x 66 canvas, with frame 108 x 91
Within a room lit by an opening in the background, we see Mary seated with Child astride on his left leg and Joseph standing in prayerful attitude, compared to the usual iconography is depicted as a young man. In the lower part of the painting two little angels, hugged each other, seem to intrigue the child, who looks down at them with an amused expression.
The canvas, high quality painting is the work of a painter active in the first half of the seventeenth century; Careful study and comparison suggests, in particular, that the same comes from an environment of the Veneto region, with strong references to Baroque religious painting by Pietro Liberi (Padua, 1605 - Venice, 1687).
The work in question has a remarkable decorative and chromatic intensity, emphasized by the excellent state of conservation of the painting process.
The painting, like all our object is sold with a certificate of authenticity.
