Descrizione Dettagliata
Exceptional suite of six "cabriolet" chairs in the Jules Leleu style.
The chairs are made of very nice teak wood worked in the heart of the wood, entirely covered with powdered beige imitation leather with saddle stitching.
The seats have been completely redone.
The height of the backrest and the width of the seat have been perfectly studied to provide unequalled comfort and support when sitting around a table.
Period: Art Deco
Circa : 1930 - 1935
Dimensions of the chairs : Height : 107cm / Seat height : 44cm / Seat width : 48cm / Depth : 47cm / Backrest only : 64cm
This family of cabinet makers, designers and assemblers was at the top of French decoration during the years 1920-1948 for Jules Leleu and 1948-1970 for his son André Leleu.
Jules Leleu fitted out numerous embassies and decorated the most beautiful liners of the 1930s.
He carried out commissions for the Prince of Monaco and the Emperor of Japan.
Liking to work in a team, he surrounded himself with a group of artists and craftsmen.
The lacquerers Dunand, Bobot, Hamenenaka - The engravers on glass Max Ingrand and Pansart and the iron worker Raymond Subes.
He carries out the decoration "from floor to ceiling" from furniture, to lighting, to carpets and fabrics.
It is a splendid restoration of the TWS (Calais) workshops in the know-how and the respect of the craft techniques.
