Descrizione Dettagliata
The Sacred heart of Jesus is a catholic devotional subject as a symbol of divine love. This topic was product of mysticism related to Jesus, who conceived the heart as a vital center and a focal point of his love for the humanity.
On the fine artwork here presented, painted during the late 18th century around the region of Cuzco, there is a richly detailed flower garland surrounding the whole scene. On the middle of the composition there is a gold chalice held by the head of a cherub. The sacred heart with the crown of thorns above it, together with a wooden cross. Five cherub heads on the upper part of the heart as a way of symbolism meanwhile on each side of the heart there is a prayer cherub facing directly to the focal point.
Rich in colours and heading to the earthly plane, we are able to see a vivid landscape with blueish tones. There are present two prayers angels on the lower part of the composition, one on the lower left and the other on the lower right part - both, which colorful drappery, are facing to the upper part of the composition where the heart is.
Oil on canvas. Relined. Framed. Good conditions overall, painting loss in some areas. Colorful and very fine composition.
