Descrizione Dettagliata
Elegant and sober scriban furniture with two bodies made of moulded and carved solid Rio rosewood.
The upper part consists of a cabinet with two doors opening onto a set of two shelves, topped by a very pretty cornice in the shape of a gendarme hat, decorated with a wooden sculpture forming a shell.
The lower part is composed on the one hand of a secretary opening by a flap revealing a theatre with six drawers in macassar ebony and Rio rosewood marquetry, on two rows, then in its centre, a tabernacle door with a lock and on the other hand of a low piece of furniture with two doors opening on a set with a shelf.
The ensemble is enhanced by finely carved wood moldings with shells and interlacing decorations typical of the Louis XIV period, supported by two square legs at the back and two "snail" finish legs at the front.
Period: Mid 19th Century
Style : Louis XIV - 3rd period
Dimensions : Height : 204cm x Width : 107cm x Depth : 55cm
Has 4 keys
This is a very fine piece of cabinet making, made with care and craftsmanship, a special order from a lover of precious woods and sobriety, just like the furniture of this third period of the reign of the Sun King, where the Regency style appears in anticipation, with sets that are always well symmetrical and new ornaments that make their appearance, with the shell and the fleuron.
This unique and exceptional piece pays homage in every respect to the image of an absolute king and a powerful state, giving this period the name of the "Grand Siècle".
