Six "Roemers -Cristal Saint-louis" glasses - Model : Florenc

Magnificent set of six "Roemers" stemmed glasses in cut crystal from the Saint-Louis manufacture, in Red, Amethyst, Emerald Green, Chartreuse Green, Sky Blue and Cobalt Blue.

The "Florence" model, with geometric decoration surmounted by palmettes, bevelled diamonds, stars and a chiselled eight-faceted jamb, ending with a star-cut foot.

It is one of the very beautiful top-of-the-range models from the Saint-Louis crystal works, created in 1967.
Richly cut, they offer a magnificent brilliance and a sound of great purity.

The famous "Roemers", which means "Rhine wine glasses", are glasses that always come with a garnish of six assorted colours, as the first examples were Alsace wine glasses representing six different grape varieties. Each colour was supposed to represent one of them.
 
They are made of white crystal, then covered with a layer of colour. The primary layer of transparent crystal is found when the glasses are cut, to enhance the contrast between the deep colours and the magical sparkle of the crystal.

These glasses, the "Florence" model, showcase the full range of expertise of the Saint-Louis crystal works. 
Hours of work to achieve this alchemy between the different sizes, from the flat rib to the crosses or even the palmettes, without forgetting the gemstones.
