Descrizione Dettagliata
Magnificent and large clock, very decorative, very unusual at the time. It is composed of gilded bronze with mercury and patinated bronze. It reveals a sublime war scene with the figure of two knights, one of whom is wounded and Pierre Terrail, Lord of Bayard, the fearless and blameless knight, valiantly supporting and defending his comrade in the face of enemies.
Period: Restoration - Circa: 1820.
Style: Troubadour, Middle Ages - Provenance: France.
Dimensions: Height: 53cm x Width: 37cm x Depth: 14cm.
Completely revised by a professional watchmaker - Original movement without modification, silk thread suspensions, hour and half hour strike on an old bell.
Its white enamel dial is highlighted by a finely chiseled gilt bronze crown where its Roman numerals and finely crafted small hands become luminous.
Its base rests on four feet decorated with winding acanthus, enhanced with a gadroon garland which highlights a magnificent trophy of arms made up of the knight's lance and scarf.
The armor worn by the knight was embarrassing, impractical and above all did not allow him to wear and take with him useful objects or accessories.
The scarf, relayed to the rank of simple fabric, had a purely functional role in the Middle Ages.
The large piece of cloth served as a shroud, an accessory which the knight could have recourse to for reasons, simple but fundamental or vital needs during the battle such as for example to heal his wounds or to wipe the blood from a wound, simply blow your nose.
Perfect authenticity and a remarkable state of conservation!
Certificate delivered with the object.
