The master's furniture is neither more nor less than miniature furniture. And it is there that the difficulty imposes itself because they were carried out by companions, whose work had to be exemplary.
These pieces of furniture have the particularity of being masterpieces made by the aspiring virtuoso journeymen, who presented their work at the end of their tour of France to be received as journeymen.
These superb collector's items are true masterpieces of technique, complexity of realization and implementation especially because they are only composed of small parts or elements.
It is also, and this must be emphasised, a masterpiece of patience.
The minute details and the work required to make the pieces require a great deal of concentration, meticulousness and experience. It's a huge job and remarkable in every way.
"Combining head and hands to tame the material and overcome technical difficulties without appearing to do so. This is a beautiful sentence, which proves, if it were necessary, that making this furniture was a challenge.
